Woolworths and Caltex are rolling out 4 cents a litre discounts at 125 locations
Shoppers need to spend $30 or more during trip to Woolworths to get discount
The announcement follows a deal between the two retail giants earlier this year
Drivers are set to find cheaper fuel at more Caltex and Woolworths after the chains extended their four cent-a-litre discounts to dozens of service stations across the country.
Shoppers who spend $30 or more during a trip to Woolworths are eligible for the discount which will knock off roughly $2 from the average fuel purchase.
With petrol prices constantly increasing, reaching 10-year highs in some locations, motorist’s wallets have been taking a hit.
The national average unleaded petrol price currently sits at 156.1 cents a litre.
The move is expected to spark a price war with competing petrol station chains and could see fuel prices easing across the nation.
The 125 new service stations that will accept the discount will add to the 104 locations that already accept the offer.
‘We’re absolutely committed to bringing the best value for our customers and this new partnership with Woolworths Rewards will help them save money,’ executive general manager of Caltex’s Convenience Retail Richard Pearson said.
But there is one condition – fuel buyers need to be members of the Woolworths Rewards program and scan their card at the checkout.
The announcement follows a 15-year deal between Woolworths and Caltex reached earlier this year which will see the two retail giants roll out co-branded service stations using the Woolworths Metro banner from 2019.
Additionally, Woolworths Rewards members can also earn points at more that 680 new Caltex locations across the country.
‘Rewards members will earn 1 point for every $1 spent on fuel and in store purchases, and can use their points to get money off their shop at Woolworths Supermarkets, BWS and Big W, or convert them to Qantas Points,’ Woolworths director of loyalty Ingrid Maes said.
