Consumer demand for fresh food on the go has risen sharply over the past few years.
In line with this trend, Valora is opening the first avec store with an integrated “The Kitchen” concept at Freiestrasse 14, in the immediate vicinity of the University of Zurich, on 31 May.
In an open kitchen, popular to-go dishes are freshly prepared from Monday to Saturday.
On Sundays, the store will be operated without staff and access, shopping and payment will be made via the avec app.
At the same time, the new store is the first avec in a residential district.
By the end of the year, seven more avec stores are to follow according to the new “The Kitchen” concept.
Valora’s “Foodvenience” strategy is based on the steadily increasing consumer demand for fresh to-go food and the desire for convenient, fast shopping.
In line with this trend, Valora is integrating “The Kitchen” into the new avec store in Zurich for the first time, thus combining fresh food with convenience offerings.
From Monday to Saturday, the open kitchen prepares hot and fresh dishes for on the go.
In addition to traditional dishes such as pizza, chicken wings, hamburgers or meatloaf, the new avec offers a wide range of vegan dishes such as Dürüm falafel, vegetarian hot dog, vegetarian burger, hummus sticks or couscous oriental.
“With our new “The Kitchen” concept, we want to offer our customers hot and fresh meals every day. In addition, we are also expanding our range of fresh take-away sandwiches,” says Roger Vogt, CEO Retail at Valora.
The range of freshly prepared sandwiches will now be supplemented by six more variants.
The new store on Freiestrasse is the first avec in a residential district.
The sales outlet is open all week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, the store will be operated without staff and access, shopping and payment will be made via the avec app.
Valora will expand the new avec concept “The Kitchen” to other, larger locations in Switzerland in the coming months.
By the end of this year, seven avec are expected to open according to the new concept, two of them at new locations.
