Speculation Woolworths is ramping up its business-to-business operations, 16 years after selling its grocery wholesaling division. Woolworths recently registered the trademark Australian Liquor & Grocery Wholesalers with IP Australia, covering two classes of goods and services including retailing, wholesaling, distribution and storage of goods and logistics services. A Woolworths spokesman said the retailer was re-registering a trademark that was due to expire, after signing a long-term wholesale supply agreement with Caltex in July. Some sources believe Woolworths is looking to build its wholesaling capabilities significantly to supply not only Caltex but other business customers. Sources: AFR.
