REVEALED: When you should buy petrol to save hundreds on your fuel – and when to avoid the bowser at all costs

Savvy motorists can save more than $500 a year at the bowser by filling up on the right day of the weekly fuel price cycle.
While the peaks and troughs have become harder to track, and in some cities non-existent, an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission reveals there are still saving to be made.
Perth is by far the most predictable city for motorists to cash in followed by Sydney, but those in other capital cities will have to be more observant.
The findings come as fuel prices hit a 10-year high earlier this year with some retailers charging more than $1.70 a litre for unleaded.
