RECHARGE PETROLEUM ACCELERATES SOUTH AUSTRALIAN EXPANSION

Recharge Petroleum has completed the acquisition of the Adelaide Fuel Distributors business from Fredricks Petroleum.

The purchase includes the fuel transport assets for bulk fuel and onsite distribution businesses, lubricant warehouses, and ten service stations and unmanned refuelling locations.

Adelaide Fuel Distributors was started by Bryson Fredericks in 1971 in Seaford south of Adelaide.

The business expanded to operate sixteen delivery trucks delivery bulk fuels and lubricants from depots in Cavan and Seaford.

Recharge Petroleum, owned by brothers Neale Crawford and Steven Crawford, has been a bp distributor for over eight years, representing the bp brand in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia, revitalising bp’s market presence in the Northern Territory and now South Australia.

“The expansion will leverage the synergies between Recharge Petroleum’s established networks into South Australia, unlocking even more opportunities for our customers to access bp fuel throughout these key markets.” says Mr Crawford

The Crawford family of Recharge Petroleum looks forward to continuing to provide Adelaide Fuel Distributors customers with the highest level of service and products that they had been accustomed to from the Fredricks family over the previous 50 years.

Following the acquisition Recharge Petroleum now employs 300 staff across its wholesale and retail businesses, operating 30 service stations and unmanned refuelling locations, and own and operate a fleet of a hundred trucks that provide fuel deliveries to an area spanning more than half of Australia.

In the coming weeks the ten Adelaide Fuel Distributors service stations and unmanned refuelling locations will be rebranded to BP as Recharge Petroleum expand its retail presence with BP in South Australia.

The South Australian service station landscape has been shaken up with the 195 OTR service station sites being acquired by Viva Energy in March 2024 and currently in the transition of being rebranded to Shell, and BP acquiring South Australian based fuel retailer X Convenience in the process of rebranded to BP.
