BP and David Jones are hoping to reshape the way consumers shop for food with the opening today of the first collaboration store in Bayside Melbourne.
BP Bayside, on the corner of North Rd and Nepean Highway, showcases the new dual-branded look and feel.
Brighton resident Rebecca Judd said she’s excited to find a fantastic food selection now on offer at her local service station.
“I visit this petrol station at least once a week and it’s great to have access to the premium David Jones food range in my local area.,” she said.
“The David Jones free-range roast chicken is legendary. Friends travel to Malvern for these, so it’s very exciting to have these at our local BP alongside salads, fresh bread and lots of groceries — dinner sorted.”
BP and David Jones Food now has more than 400 products on offer at Bayside, with food-for-now and food-for-later options, pre-prepared meals and groceries.
Five other partner stores are planned for opening in Melbourne between December 2019 and March 2020 in suburbs Ringwood, Glen Waverley, Brighton, Clarendon and Greensborough.
David Jones Food managing director Pieter de Wet said the new store represented a new chapter for the retailer, extending its food offering into a new convenience format that will allow more Australians than ever before to access the range when and where it suits them.
“The carefully curated product range showcases David Jones Food’s enduring focus on quality, innovation and taste,” he said.

“As consumer behaviour changes and demand for fresh and accessible food-for now and food-for-later options continues to increase, we’re excited to present a new concept to Australian consumers that’s set to change the way they shop for food.”
BP Australia sales and marketing vice president Brooke Miller said the new store offered customers a glimpse into the future of shopping, aiming to deliver an outstanding retail experience with the highest quality fresh food at great value.
“The store design has been carefully planned to cater to the expectations of busy, urban customers while still providing BP’s usual high-quality offers such as the Wild Bean Café,” she said.
