Petrol price confusion ends in Qld

Queensland petrol stations must stop advertising discounted fuel prices from Wednesday under laws aimed at ending hip-pocket confusion for motorists.

New laws banning petrol stations from displaying discounted fuel prices have come into effect in Queensland, giving drivers greater certainty about how much they’ll really pay.

Petrol stations across the state are now required to post the full, non-discounted price per litre on their price boards under laws that take effect from Wednesday.

The RACQ says it’s a win for motorists and retailers can no longer lure in customers with a discounted price and then hit them a higher one if they don’t have discount vouchers.
