The new Kit-Kat factory will be opened in Himeji, the western part of Japan
It will create selected flavours including pistachio, raspberry and sushi
The factory will be the first to be opened in 26 years due to popular demand
Nestle in Japan have announced that they will be opening a new factory due to overwhelming demand.
The popular two-bar-treat already comes in a variety of mouthwatering, unique flavours in the country including wasabi, edamame and purple sweet potato.
Now the creation of the first new Kit-Kat factory in 26 years will house a multitude of innovative variants, with pistachio and strawberry and maple options on the radar.
The Japanese tradition of gift giving, combined with the loose translation of Kit-Kat meaning ‘you will surely win’, has meant that the wafer-covered-chocolate bar has surged in popularity and now comes in more than 300 different tasty varieties in the nation.
Based in the Western city of Himeji, the state-of-the-art factory will focus on manufacturing small amounts of selected versions of the snack, which also has 30 regional and seasonal based options to enjoy.
Marcia Mogelonsky, global food and drink analyst at market research firm Mintel said: ‘Innovative flavours are not uncommon in Japan, but Kit-Kat stands out for its volume of Japan-centric flavours,’
She added: ‘The collectible flavours of the products, which leverage some extremely specific Japanese flavours and food ways, are one of the major reasons for its success.’
