Hollier Dicksons: Leading the way for 160 years

Since 1854, Hollier Dicksons has continually grown and evolved to meet the demands of the Australian market. Starting as a Victorian based cordial and syrup manufacturer in its formative years, today Hollier Dicksons is a national, full-service distributor, thriving under the leadership of the Essey and Lloyd families. The team’s shared philosophy of innovation and customer service excellence has formed the foundation of a national infrastructure, with a nimble and proactive culture where service levels are paramount.
“Our owner-operator attitude, together with a flat structure allows Hollier Dicksons to deliver on our promises,” Hollier Dicksons Executive Director Andrew Lloyd said. “There are no individually minded or complex networks involved in our service delivery. We can make a decision rapidly and execute it just as quickly because all aspects of our national business are under our full control.”
Hollier Dicksons are currently celebrating the recent launch of Hollier Dicksons Adelaide, the final piece to their national infrastructure, having acquired Confec Express in Perth in early 2013.
“Our Adelaide team has a new culture and refocussed vigour in providing a quality experience for our customers,” Mr Lloyd said.
Hollier Dicksons blend logistics perspectives with wholesaler models to find the right solution.
“We currently operate a P&C retailer’s distribution centre managing full beverage, tobacco, oil and other products,” Hollier Dicksons Managing Director Richard Lloyd said. “We manage all point of sale material and imported products for several major retailers and distribute 12 million litres of milk on a cartage agreement.”
Hollier Dicksons has also developed brand management expertise and represents speciality products in the impulse channel.
“We are brand manager for Hershey in the impulse and grocery sectors, officially representing all Hershey product ranges in Australia,” Hollier Dicksons’ Rodney Cassettari said. “We have also developed the Darrell Lea, Chocolatier and Ernest Hillier ranges offering every day and seasonal events products nationally. Retailers are continually searching for quality branded products that are retailed at a fair price and that have not been commoditised in the marketplace.”
Hollier Dicksons’ 160 year success story is an impressive one however the company has no intention of resting on its laurels. And if history is anything to go by, the ‘survive and thrive’ spirit of Australia’s oldest wholesale distributor will see it continue to lead innovation in the domestic market for another 160 years.
