IF YOU could bottle success, Mark Holmes and Barry Hamilton would be the ones to do it.
In nine years the long-time friends have built an empire on packaged water, with their local operation Nu-Pure now churning out 120 million bottles a year and rivalling the likes of global giants Coca-Cola and Asahi.
It wasn’t always that way. The two started the under-the-radar operation from scratch with a few loans and a single plant of outdated machinery in Burleigh.
“It was very small, humble beginnings,†Mr Holmes said.
“We started off with next to nothing, it was basically my family chipping in and putting the hat around to buy some very entry-level equipment and just testing the market.â€
