CHOCAHOLICS are in for a sweet treat as Nestle launches not one but five new flavours of KitKat into Australia.
But they won’t be available everywhere — this time they are being exclusively sold in Melbourne at KitKat’s exclusive Chocolatory store.
The five new flavours are part of a Created in Japan collection, and are being flown in from the Asian nation, which has fast become one of the hottest tourist destinations for Australians.
The collection includes: Fragrant Butter, Refreshing Sake, Creamy Hokkaido Melon & Mascarpone, Sweet yet sour Strawberry and Maple and Delicious Uji Matcha.
The Japanese-inspired KitKat flavours are being flown in after local customers expressed their keen interest in the Japanese varieties of the world famous KitKat.
KitKat’s head Chocolatier Connie Yuen told News Corp Australia that she decided to bring these five flavours Down Under to meet growing demand.
“We always have guests coming in to the boutique store and telling us about the flavours they’ve tasted in Japan of the KitKat,” she said.

“Japan has more than 300 KitKat flavours on the market, and we hope to showcase more of them in Australia in the future.”
Ms Yuen, 33, said the Fragrant Butter flavour had a “rich, creamy taste”, and was a “creamy white chocolate”.
She said the Sake KitKat actually has real Sake in it — but not enough to get anyone drunk.
“It’s definitely more of an adult flavour though, and it has a distinct Sake aroma and flavour.”
As for the Hokkaido Melon & Mascarpone, Ms Yuen said this flavour was created to show off Hokkaido’s dairy and produce.

“The Strawberry and Maple flavour one is on the sweeter side, and it also has grounded up almonds in it to give it a nutty taste too,” she said.
“We think it will do well during the Aussie summer and it’s the lighter KitKat in terms of flavour.”
In detailing what the Uji matcha KitKat tastes like, she said it showcases what the area of Uji has to offer in Japan.
“Uji is known for its superior tea quality, and matcha is sourced from that area. It has a rich, earthy flavour,” she said.

Currently, customers of the KitKat Chocolatory can only purchase its unique KitKat flavours in-store or order online and then collect in-store.
When asked if the KitKat Chocolatory would consider expanding its online shopping experience so customers could have KitKats delivered beyond Melbourne, Ms Yuen said: “Stay tuned”.
“We haven’t ruled out being able buy our boutique KitKat flavours online across the country yet,” she added.

The five new flavours of KitKats from Japan will be available at Melbourne Central while stocks last from November 7.
Sweet tooths can get the Japanese range in a 6 x 2 finger gift pack of an individual flavour, or a Created In Japan giftset which contains all of them.

Their introduction comes after the KitKat Chocolatory was the first place to offer Ruby Chocolate in Australia this year.
It was first new chocolate flavour to be released in 80 years.
Ms Yuen said it is still popular and will stay on shelves as long as customers keep asking for it.
