Carbon Tax Survey Highlights Inconvenient Concerns

As the introduction of the carbon tax looms, the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) has surveyed its members to gauge their views on its impact. And while, unsurprisingly, convenience store owners are expecting it to hurt, it’s the perceived lack of Government support for an industry that employs over 13,000 Australians that is the source of most concern.

AACS Carbon Tax survey: key highlights:

  • Respondents believe the carbon tax will decrease organisational profit levels by an average of 5.1%.
  • 43% of respondents ‘strongly disagree’ with the carbon tax; no respondents ‘strongly agree’ with the tax.
  • 67% of respondents believe the carbon tax will negatively impact future employment levels in their business.
  • Most don’t see the carbon tax having any environmental benefit.
