One of the world’s largest convenience store chains plans to build a network of stores specifically targeted at the aged.
Japan’s Lawson says the move is a response to Japan’s ageing population.
According to The Japan Times, the stores will have specialist staff to aid senior citizens. Lawson targets to open 30 such stores by March 2018, the first in February 2015 in Saitama Prefecture.
It will be operated in partnership with welfare service provider Wisnet.
Lawson also plans to tie up with fitness providers to open fitness-focused stores.
