Queensland Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington has called for mandatory online publishing of fuel prices in a bid to increase competition and lower costs.

Brisbane’s “out of control” fuel prices could be lowered by mandatory online publishing of costs, which would increase competition, Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington says.
The Liberal National Party leader said there was a difference of about 18 cents per litre between fuel retailers at Kingaroy, which sits in her electorate to the north of Brisbane, and prices in the capital.
“Country towns are actually having more competitive fuel prices than the centre of Brisbane,” she told reporters on Saturday.
The scheme has worked in NSW and would also improve prices for motorists around Brisbane, Ms Frecklington said.
