A woman who calls herself the Queen of Australia has been charged after allegedly stealing $92 worth of petrol.
The 37-year-old, from Mullumbimby, near Byron Bay, allegedly walked into a Lismore service station and pumped a tank of fuel.
She then allegedly announced to the attendant that she was the ‘Queen of Australia’ and she was transporting the ‘The King’.
She then allegedly left without paying.
Richmond Police District senior constable David Henderson told Northern Star: ‘All of the petrol stations on the Northern Rivers have quality CCTV.
‘If you steal petrol you and your vehicle will be filmed, and you can expect a knock on the door from police.’
The woman will appear at Byron Bay Local Court next month.
