7-ELEVEN TRIALS NEXT GENERATION OF MY 7-ELEVEN APP PAY & GO, POWERED BY GRABANGO

7-Eleven Australia has launched a 10 store trial of the next generation Pay & Go technology to test new ways to give customers a faster way to shop.

7-Eleven Australia’s Pay & Go 2.0 trial, powered by Grabango, enables customers to pay for their shopping using the My 7-Eleven App or in-store kiosk without the need to scan individual items.

The technology uses computer vision to allow customers to pay for their shopping with a single tap of a credit card or by using the My 7-Eleven app.

The system automatically adds up the items, processes payment, and sends the receipt to the customer.

7-Eleven Australia General Manager-Technology and Strategy, Stephen Eyears said “the next generation of Pay & Go, which has been developed with our partner Grabango, is part of our commitment to trialing innovative digital capabilities to serve our customers and provide them with faster shopping experiences.”

“Grabango technology uses computer vision to “see” every product in the store, eliminating the need for customers to scan individual items,” Mr Eyears said.

Customers who have registered for the My 7-Eleven app will receive an automatic app update and simply need to accept the updated terms and conditions.

Customers who do not have My 7-Eleven app can still experience this way to pay by simply tapping or inserting their debit or credit cards on the Pay Station on their way out at one of the ten trial stores.

Grabango Founder and CEO Will Glaser said “7-Eleven Australia is an innovative retailer and, like us, has a hyperfocus on delivering convenience to its customers.”

“The beauty of this latest technology is it gives shoppers the option of avoiding the need to queue at the counter to pay or to scan individual items using the My 7-Eleven Pay and Go, regardless of how many items they buy.

There’s no special shelves, carts, or gates, making the next generation of Pay and Go a fast and easy way to check out,” Mr Glaser said.

The new technology is being trialed at ten 7-Eleven Australia stores in greater Melbourne and Sydney:
