Small business a 2017 ACCC priority

ACCC announces 2017 enforcement priorities

Today we released our new Compliance & Enforcement Policy. It gives an overview of the ACCC’s priority enforcement areas, and outlines how we will work to achieve compliance with the law.

Small business is once again a key focus for the ACCC. This year we will continue to ensure small businesses receive the protection of the:

  • industry codes of conduct (including the Franchising, Horticulture, and Food & Grocery codes)
  • new unfair contract term laws

We’ll also concentrate on misconduct in the health, construction and agriculture sectors, all of which have a large small business population. We will work to educate small businesses about the new country of origin labelling regime. And we will continue our market study into the new car retail sector.

You can learn more about some of the changes in this year’s Compliance & Enforcement Policy in the media release we issued today. You can also find the complete policy on our website.
If you experience any competition or consumer issues from another business, you can use our online report form to tell us about it.
